This week marks the start of yet another journey of homeschooling with our youngest son. Previously, I homeschooled our oldest son for his remaining two years of high school, due to medical circumstances. We worked hard, and he passed the GED with flying colors in 2012. Although I had high hopes to continue to send my youngest son to public school, since I’m a public school teacher, it was apparent that his unique needs were not being met. I have no doubt that the TEAM tried their best, but his multiple disabilities require more 1:1 attention that he wasn’t getting. We certainly don’t want our son to fall through the cracks, so we decided to venture into homeschooling once again. We are hopeful that his meltdowns will subside and that he will strengthen his disposition for the love of learning.
In light of the aforementioned, I have joined the Guam Homeschool Association. The GHSA consists of a great group of parents/teachers who genuinely seem interested in providing whatever support necessary to ensure the success of homeschool families. I’m glad that we are not alone, as we work toward providing the quality education our children deserve. God bless, and here’s to a successful homeschool experience!
